Almafi Coast

The Almafi Coast was the area Gavin was looking forward to visiting the most. It's unfortunate that our time there got cut short since there was a lot of exploring we wanted to do. Hopefully, we will be able to go back sometime. Almafi is probably the prettiest coast line we have ever seen.

This is us on our long journey back to the hotel to check out.

The Almafi Coast is tall cliffs along the Mediterranean Ocean.

We took a bus tour to the village of Almafi and back. I would highly recommend doing this because the drivers in Italy are scary, the road is narrow and winding along a steep cliff and you want to be free to enjoy the view.

We loved looking at the houses along the cliffs.

LOVE the color of the water.

The bus ended in Almafi. We only had a few minutes to run up one of the streets, grab some food and race back to catch the bus heading back to Sorrento. I would have loved to spend more time in the village, but we had a tight schedule that day. Almafi used to be one of Italy's biggest ports that rivaled Pisa, Venice, and Geona.

We got some really good pizza and lemon cake (the area is known for its lemons) to take with us for the bus ride back.

Some people had stairways leading right to the ocean. A lot had pools and hot tubs right next to the water. You can see in this picture.

It's such a beautiful area.

We couldn't get a good picture of it, but it was interested to see how farms and gardens were laid out there. They were made up of several levels, graduated down. To get to each level, you had to climb down a ladder.

I really wish we had more time to explore this area. We went through so much to get there and we rushed through everything. We would have loved to take some hikes and explore some of the villages and really enjoy the coast.
